CSAM system interfaces with AL3 generators

As concluded in previous meetings, it is necessary to identify the exact sources of AL3 and their interfaces with CSAM system. Silvia Grau presented, for every type of AL3:  the division in charge of this equipment and their link men for CSAM project. So that, we can get all the required information to exactly define the interface with the new LHC and old CERN existing detection systems. This is summarized in the table below:

Type of AL3 Division in charge Linemen
Fire  ST/AA/AS R.Nunes
Evacuation ST/AA/AS R Nunes
Gas  ST/AA/AS R Nunes.
Oxygen concentration ST/AA/AS R.Nunes
Red telephones ST/EL/TT & TIS/FB R. Parker, C. Dangoisse
Emergency stop ST/EL G.Cumer
Deadman Not yet defined
Water leak ST/CV Not yet defined

R.Parker and C. Dangoisse explained that the "Blocked lift" AL3 will be fully suppressed, in a period of three years. In order to be conform with the European Directive, lifts must be equipped with a bi-directional communication system, working 24/24. The 112 Telephones will be used for this purpose at CERN, without being considered as Red Telephone. However, lifts already equipped with Red Telephones (SPS, LEP), will be continued to be used.

After that, Silvia presented the kind of information we require to know about the AL3 generators, for both, the existing CERN detection system and the future LHC system:

CSAM documentation status

Market Survey (L.Scibile)
Next monday, 22th of November, the Market Survey, for the CSAM system realization, will be presented at the ST Technical Review for approval.

Call for tender  for the Safety Consultant (S. Grau)
The second draft of the Technical Specification for the services of Consulting, Auditing and Training along the safety life cycle of the CSAM project is under correction. A "Questionnaire estimatif" and the list of firms needs to be prepared to be ready for the "Comite de lecture ST". Considering no delays on the documentation and purchase procedures, the contract won't be ready before February 2000.

CSAM Acceptance Test (S.Grau)
The CSAM Acceptance Test is divided in two parts: the Test Plan and the Test Specification. The first part of the document will be ready for corrections next week. The Test Specification is being written but it is not ready for corrections.

Interface Control Documents (S. Grau)
At the moment, we have identified the interfaces with the CSAM system, as presented in the Context diagram and we have started to investigate and define the interfaces with the detection systems. However, nothing has been yet written in the CSAM ICD.

Prototype status

Tono Riesco presented the actual status of the CSAM prototype. Regarding the prototype architecture, it is clear, that using a SCADA together with the OLE Process control at the supervision level, it is not necessary to have a Master PLC S7-400. This PLC could be useful, during the transition period, to animate the Central Synoptic at the Fire Brigade. Regarding the interface with the detection, the  ISEC document is being analysed to define the exact interface between a PLC and a CIE.

Web server PLC communication cards have been bought to be tested on the prototype. The idea is to have a hierarchical synoptic organization, under the hiperlink principle (distributed supervision type)

Tono Riesco will be on holidays until beginning of January 2000, but he has already define the required work to do on the prototype to Frederic Havart.

Definitive solution to the interface with CIEs

Finally, everybody agreed on the solution presented in the "Analysis of CSAM Detection Interface with CIE's" document. The  CSAM  interface to the Fire and Gaz Central Detection will be made via ONE PLC. This PLC will be redundant (i.e. S7 400-H) and equipped with at least two communications cards (SAT and STD paths). Furthermore, if necessary in order to assure the connection between PLC and CIE, dry contacts coming out  from the CIE will be treated by the PLC to check the communication.
